  • Jeep Wrangler is Becoming a Mainstream Passenger Vehicle

    When the 2007 Jeep JK two-door Wrangler and four-door Wrangler Unlimited were introduced, Dynatrac immediately recognized that the new vehicle would fill a niche between the outgoing TJ Wrangler model and the wildly popular, but discontinued (and sorely missed) XJ Cherokee model. But the JK intrigue actually attracted more than just off-road enthusiasts and diehard Jeep owners – a whole new breed of customers to the Jeep brand and the aftermarket parts industry helped increase the sales volume of the Jeep Wrangler to nearly that of mainstream cars. In fact, FCA has sold approximately four times as many Wranglers each year as it has Chrysler 300s, and Wrangler annual sales have been roughly equal to that of the Chevrolet Malibu.* Continue reading

  • Jeep Wrangler JL Transfer Case Modification

    The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL has many great, new features. It may be the most-capable Jeep Wrangler ever made. We dove right into this new model and built the first JL on 42s, named CODE1. Through our series of modifications which included Dynatrac ProRock axles and 42-inch tall tires, we ran across a situation where the transfer case may refuse to shift; specifically when the front axle is replaced with one that does not have front-axle disconnect (FAD).

    The Jeep JL is equipped with a Magna transfer case. The transfer case uses a synchronizer to smooth shifts between high-range and low-range. Ironically, components of this synchronizer seem to be what keep the transfer case from shifting in certain situations. Continue reading

  • Dynatrac ProRock 44 Track-Bar Mounting Options

    The raised track-bar bracket with steering ram assist cylinder or steering stabilizer mount is an option for any 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Dynatrac ProRock44 front axle housing. This bracket is recommended for any Jeep JK with a 2-inch lift or higher.

    Track-Bar Mounting Options

    OEM development engineers spent an exorbitant amount of time optimizing the vehicle’s steering linkage geometry at OEM ride height.  When a Jeep JK is lifted, a new ride height is established and the steering linkage geometry is altered.  The new steering linkage geometry results in poor vehicle handling and stability.  In order to restore the steering linkage geometry back to OEM standards, the draglink and track bar bracket mounting positions have to be adjusted. Dynatrac’s raised track bar bracket is designed to work in conjunction with a draglink flip kit to correct the steering linkage geometry.

  • Dynatrac CODE1 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Build

    We are proud to introduce you to the Dynatrac CODE1 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL project. The concept for this vehicle was to create an iconic overlanding vehicle that is extremely capable as a rock crawler.

    We wanted to set the bar extremely high, using 42-inch tall Maxxis tires and changing the body from a 4-door to create a long-wheelbase, 2-door with lots of cargo space behind the front seats. To make the project even more challenging, we built it in just eight days!

    The idea for this build started with Tony Carvallo, who now works for us at Dynatrac, and Fred Williams at Dirt Every Day. Before Tony joined Dynatrac, he worked at FCA as the Product Planner for the JL. They wanted to be the first to build a JL on 42s, and the vision for this build evolved over time. Continue reading

    Lance Clifford, founder of pirate4x4.com, has built a lot of 4x4s over the years. From Toyota pickups to race rigs, along with his fair share of Jeeps. When he decided to build his current Jeep JK, the one thing he had learned from all of those other 4x4s was to make the drivetrain bulletproof.

  • How to Fill Your Dynatrac ProRock® Axle with Gear Oil

    A couple of questions we are frequently asked by customers is how to properly fill their Dynatrac ProRock® axle with gear oil, and which gear oil is best to use. Let’s dive right in!

    First, we recommend a high-quality GL-5 mineral-based gear oil (not synthetic). In moderate to cold climates, use SAE 85/90. If you live in a hot climate, use SAE 85/140.

    The specific fill procedure is a little different for the Dynatrac ProRock 44™ and the Dynatrac ProRock 60/XD60® axles. We go through each in the following sections. Continue reading
