New Gear Break-In Guide

1. Use Proper Gear Oil

  • Recommended: Lucas non‑synthetic 85W‑140. High-quality oil reduces wear and overheating.

2. Initial Run

  • Drive lightly for 15–20 minutes.
  • Then stop and cool the differential for 20–25 minutes.

3. Early Driving Phase (First 500 miles)

  • Avoid towing, heavy acceleration, and constant speed. Vary your speed every 5–10 minutes on highways.
  • Limit continuous driving to ≤50 miles before stopping to cool.

4. First Oil Change

  • At 500 miles, replace the gear oil.
  • Expect small metal flakes and dark (black) oil; this is normal.
  • If you observe excessive metal particles, have a differential mechanic inspect it.

5. Towing Post‑Break‑In

  • Begin towing with a light load for no more than 15 miles, then cool for 20–25 minutes.
  • Repeat during the first 45 towing miles to complete the break‑in.

⚠️ Important Warning

Failing to follow these steps may lead to overloading, overheating, gear oil breakdown, and ring‑and‑pinion damage—which could void your warranty
