The Dynatrac ProGrip™ Brake System comes with larger rotors for the front and rear, providing improved braking by moving the factory calipers farther from the axle centerline. The increased rear braking power provides balanced braking, reducing nose dive and dramatically improving the control of the vehicle in mild and hard braking conditions compared to upgrades that only address the front brakes. Significant research was done to select the optimum front and rear brake-pad linings to balance the system and provide additional stopping power.

Fully instrumented testing showed lower brake pedal pressure and a reduction in stopping distances of up to 30 percent compared to stock brakes on a Jeep JK outfitted with a 4-inch lift and 37-inch-tall tires. Measured G-force during moderate braking (1,000-psi brake fluid pressure) increased from 0.48 Gs with stock brakes to 0.63 Gs with the Dynatrac ProGrip system.
Another key advantage is that installation of the system does not require opening the brake hydraulics, thus avoiding the chore of bleeding the brakes after installation. Additionally, brake pedal feel and travel is improved after upgrading to the Dynatrac ProGrip Brake System.
The system is a direct bolt-on for 2007-2018 Jeep Wranglers and it includes:
13.50-inch front rotors with unique pillar-vented cooling design
14.25-inch rear rotors with integral parking brake surface
Stronger caliper brackets designed using CAD/FEA and advanced engineering tools
Unique front and rear brake pads for optimum friction performance
The Dynatrac ProGrip Brake System fits Jeep Wranglers with 17-inch wheels (wheel spacers are required with 17-inch factory wheels), and the system will fit in nearly all aftermarket wheels without spacers.
NOTE: This kit does not fit Mickey Thompson Sidebiter II wheels due to the unusual inner profile of the wheel. If you have 17-inch wheels and would like to verify that they will fit with the ProGrip Brake System, click the link below to download the Wheel Fitment Instructions as well as the front and rear brake profile.
I had Progrip Brake System installed on my Jku and let me tell there is a difference. Be for I had a hard time stopping while on the stock brakes with running 40s and the new Progrip Brake system almost stops on a dime. A huge difference. I'm very impressed.
We recently added the Dynatrac ProGrip brake system to our 2010 JKU. Shipping was fast, customer service was excellent, instructions are amazing, install is quick and easy, and end product looks fantastic and performs even better. With 37" tires, thousands of dollars invested in the Jeep, and most importantly, safety to us and those around us, this upgrade should have been 1st on our list years ago.
I have a 2016 JK that has been babied her whole 23K mileage...I’ve always known that the OEM brakes were pitiful (along with the headlights). And so at this mileage I always replace my pads and sometimes rotors. I was recommended this system from the guys at MetalCloak and I know they only do things the right way.
Well... I couldn’t be happier. A clear 30% improvement over stock after only 250 miles... brake modulation, pedal pressure, and the shortening of braking distance is fantastic. I can’t recommend them enough. Easy install... just make sure that they will fit. I have a back country edition that’s has rubicon wheels plus I have 1.5 inch spacers.... but it’s more about the internal wheel size..... btw.. my benchmarks are AMGs and a PCCB equipped turbo....
I’m just an average guy with an average lifted jeep that has 35s. I have high hopes to grow my Jeep into a big Jeep one day. The brakes were spongy when I started. I was amazed with how easy the kit was to install for an average dude. With not much experience, you should be able to do it in less than 4 hours. Fits great with Quadratec 17” Hardrock wheels that have 5.2” of backspacing. Now, it stops so fantastically quick!
I’ve been running my Progrip brakes on my ProRock44 for over 4 years now. There was a very noticeable difference when stopping my heavy 37’s/beadlocks. Definitely a must do upgrade if you plan on running bigger tires.
Added some armor to our Big Bear Edition Jk and it had problems stopping. With this new brake kit stopping is no longer an issue. Should of bought this years ago. Only complaint was we had to run wheel spacers due to the factory specs on the wheels. Other then that totally worth the money
I’ve had my Dynatrac ProGrip brake system on my PR44/60 axles for almost 3 years. I’ve been very pleased with the significant improvement from the OEM brakes and rotors. Once I started adding larger tires, armor, bumpers, etc... it became very clear that I needed better brakes on my JKU. These fit what I needed and I’ve been very impressed with the stopping power both on the road and on the trail, especially when in 4Low. I just ordered a new set of brake pads, which lasted longer than the OEM pads even with heavier axles added. These should be a no brainer addition to your axles.
Even with 35s and beadlocks the factory brakes left a lot to be desired, and would not stop the jeep when doing steep descents. The low range would drive through the brakes even on a moderate descent. When swapping to 37s (still on 17" beadlocks), a PR44 axle housing, and adding permanent "overland" accessories, bigger better brakes were necessary. The brake kit was an easy, one man driveway install. Parts quality was high, and fitment was great. These brakes delivered the stopping power they advertised. Any downhill grade, any load out, any gear, I can confidently stop the jeep. Most importantly I can stop the jeep dropping down the steepest obstacles, which gives me the confidence to explore.
After a few instances where I had to emergency brake with both feet on the stock brakes it was time for an upgrade. Easy install, very pleased I didn't have to mess with the brake lines, and the jeep stops better than before we went up in tire size. There is a bit more brake dust as mentioned elsewhere but if you know that going it it is no surprise. Also, if you are taking the jeep off-road the dust shouldn't be a big deal.
I’ve never experienced braking power and ease like this (‘13 Wrangler JK; bought new, 53k)! I will never go back to stock! I did buy new stock caliber, flex hoses, bolts, etc to make the whole system new again and took Dynatrac’s advice of having the dealership “bleed” my brakes. My brake pedal requires little force and I can feel the power of this system working flawlessly. My Jeep can stop on a dime now.

I have had ProGrip Brake System since May 2017. From daily driving to on the trail, these brakes have been a lifesaver for me and my JK. Holding back on cliffs to slamming on my brakes due to another driver on the pavement. The ProGrip Brake System is the best you’ll find. Super easy to install is a huge plus took roughly 2 hours to do all four. This is the brake system that will always be on my daily driver/weekend warrior
I have a 2015 JKU with a 2.5 inch lift, Rock Hard 4 x 4 Steel bumpers both front and back total weight about 300lbs, Dual Batteries, Just added 35 inch tires. Before I added 35 inch tires I noticed stopping power seemed to be bad. I did a lot of research on Big Brake Kits and found that the Dynatrac ProGrip Performance Brake Kit was the way to go. Took me a total of 2 hours to install on all four wheels. Biggest plus is that you use your OEM Caliper, so no brake bleeding. I followed the break-in steps and after the break-in and not using full braking power i notice a absolutely hug difference in breaking power. Previously I had to press the pedal half way down to really feel any breaking power. I didn't realize how bad it was until these big breaks. The system is a direct bolt-on for 2007-2018 Jeep Wranglers and it includes: 13.50-inch front rotors with unique pillar-vented cooling design 14.25-inch rear rotors with integral parking brake surface Stronger caliper brackets designed using CAD/FEA and advanced engineering tools Unique front and rear brake pads for optimum friction performance The Dynatrac ProGrip Brake System fits Jeep Wranglers with 17-inch wheels (wheel spacers are required with 17-inch factory wheels), and the system will fit in nearly all aftermarket wheels without spacers. Summation: Night and day difference, not a small kinda ok it makes a bit of difference. It is huge, barely touch the brake and you feel a progressive strong no nose dive braking power. Cost is about $1000.00 but definitely worth the cash
Great improvement with my full set of Progrip brakes with my 40” tires on 17x8.5 3.5 BS trail ready beadlocks. Front set finished off my upgraded ultimate PR44 and the rear set finished my upgrades on my Built 44. I will swap them over when I upgrade to the HP 60 rear.
I've had these brakes on my 2016 JK Rubicon Hard Rock for about 6 months now and I can say they are simply awesome! Not that I could afford to do this, but straight from the dealer and into the shop for Rubicon Express 4.5" heavy duty long arm suspension, RIPP supercharger, 17" Hutchinson dual Brad locks, with 37" BFGs (still kicking myself for not going 40" Goodyear wrangler MTRs), Metal Cloak steel flat fenders and full Metal Cloak Under Armor (their name, not mine), etc., etc. What I'm saying is I added a ton of weight (half literal)! When the girl t it back with stock breaks? Accident waiting to happen! Especially with a supercharger thrown in! Dynatrac ProGrips are lifesavers! Break dust? Umm...yeah, so what? My '99 TJ has break dust too. But then again, the whole Jeep usually has some kind of dust on it. It's a Jeep! If I wanted something that shined all the time, I would have bought a Mercedes or some other fancy pants shiny road trophy! Like I could afford that either (maybe so since there's no reason to put a lift on)! Forget that! I'm keeping my ProGrips! And I'm not even going to wash it!
I’ve been running the ProGrip Brakes for a few weeks now. I’m happy with them on all levels. They are quiet. They bite and grip smoothly like stock but only harder and sooner. I would recommend this kit to anyone that is rolling 37’s or larger and wants to stop like they were stock again. Great job Dynatrac!
My '13 JKU has run 37's for about 2 years on stock brakes. I finally had a chance to upgrade to Dynatrac's Pro Grip kit. I should have done this long ago! On stock brakes I was using about 75-90% of the brake travel to come to a normal stop. Extreme braking situations were scary to say the least.
The install went smooth and easy. It always seems with any install there's some snag you run into that costs hours on the install, but not here. Everything was engineered perfectly and bolted right on. I was back on the road after 4 hours and stopped for lunch half way through.
First impressions were I better make sure I wear my seatbelt or these brakes are going to launch me through the windshield! I'm using so much less pedal travel and force to come to a regular stop than I was before. I'm only using 50-60% of pedal travel to come to a quick stop. It's so reassuring to know that I still have plenty of travel in case of an emergency stop. Great job Dynatrac!
I have had these brakes for a year now. I have 22" wheels on 40" tires and they do a great job stopping me fast and hard when needed. I love the feel of the Brakes and would reccomened them to anyone who doesn't care if their wheels get destroyed in the process...let me explain.
After a week or two of initial driving I started to notice this brownish colored stuff sticking to the sidewalls of my tires. There was tons of brake dust (more than a German car) that I would wipe off my wheels daily, but it took me some time to figure out that the brown stuff on my tire sidewalls was also brake dust.
To reduce the brake dust I bought hawk performance, low-dust, ceramic brake pads, which did reduce dust quite a bit. But the high dust issue still existed. My discovery is that this dust is from the actual rotors themselves.
Now a year later my tires have hard-to-remove brown film on the sidewalls, and my wheels have permanently discolored and started to corrode due to the brake dust, despite my diligent efforts to wipe off the brake dust regularly.
I am now in the process of ordering Teraflex BBK to see if they are any better. I can't handle this brake dust battle anymore. My $3000 wheels are destroyed.
The larger rotor is nice but as others stated the claim they fit 17" wheels is not so accurate.
I have had these just over a year and almost 5,000 miles. The Jeep has 50k miles total is not driven everyday and when I do, my commute is 1.8 miles. Trail driven but not over the top hard core. My pads are shot. All pads are even wear so no mechanical failure.
I could not be happier with this system. On the very first day I had to make an emergency stop that would have resulted in a crash with the stock brakes. As someone else here said, these should be mandatory with a lift kit and larger tires. They brake straight and hold really well.
I've had the progrip system on for a week now and couldn't be happier with it. There is a huge improvement in breaking capabilities on my Jeep. I'm running slightly larger then stock tires and always felt as though it took a good amount of effort to bring it to a halt. With the progrip breaks its stops with ease. The only negative comment I have is that I had a bunch of metal fillings left in the of the holes in the calliper bracket for the sliders. I noticed it because the slider seized when I put it in place. not really a defect just a QC issue. As far as function goes, far exceeded my expectations!
I have waited a few months to write this review to allow the brakes to break in. We do not drive a lot of miles during the week. This is for a 2007 JKU Rubicon with 45k miles. Obviously babied, always garaged, and lives in beautiful Boise Idaho. I will get the bad news out of the way:
DOES NOT fit 17x9" Mickey Thompson wheels with 4.5" BS, despite what is written online and what the tech support assured me over the phone.
Again, waiting for a long break in period to ensure the pads set well with the rotors yet they still produce a tremendous amount of brake dust!
These brakes work! I feel a lot more confident in braking power and no longer have the dreaded nose dive in a hard braking situation. My JKU has 35" tires, and heavily armored all around.
I installed the ProGrip brakes on my JK and I was very happy with the performance and feel of them, especially with the weight I had added to the Jeep and my 35's. Then I hooked up my off-road trailer and was even more impressed. I can stop the entire rig loaded up as short or shorter than I could the Jeep alone on stock brakes. I would highly recommend anyone considering upgrading their JK brakes to go with this kit.
I installed this on my 2013 JKUR on 37's. Brings back stock performance and pedal feel for your big tire JK. Also completely removes the nose dive under heavy braking! Completely lives up to the hype!!
i had the pro grip system installed in my 2013 JKU in feb 2015 .I noticed that with all the weight from the armor ,bumpers, axle upgrades and 37 inch tires that my jeep had become harder to stop.I would literally stand on the pedal if I had to stop short or was on a steep incline. Now with the pro grip package I can achieve the same braking results with half the effort plus the jeep no longer nose dives under heaven braking and has a more balanced overall feel. When I brake now the jeep remains level, stops on a dime and my confidence in its braking ability is high.I no longer have to give myself a ton of room to bring my rig to a full stop. Thanks dynatrac for another great product and making my jeep that much safer on the road .Job well done
