Dynatrac has discovered a potential defect that could affect the safe and reliable operation of 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler vehicles equipped with the Dynatrac ProGrip Brake System. We are conducting an immediate, voluntary recall. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience: Your safety and the reliability of your vehicle are our primary concerns.

Why are we conducting a recall?

A very small number of front and rear caliper brackets sold in Dynatrac ProGrip Brake Systems for use on 2007-2017 Jeep Wranglers have been identified as potentially defective. Dynatrac feels it is our duty to act promptly by immediately recalling a wide number of kits to be sure that we capture all the affected parts.

What is the nature of the defect?

An error at a U.S.-based foundry that produced these castings is the cause of the problem. We have discovered that the material used to manufacture a very small number of the front and rear bracket castings did not meet our specifications.

What could happen?

This incorrect material could cause the bracket to fail, lose effectiveness and possibly cause the brake system to malfunction, resulting in property damage, injury or death.  However, no accidents, crashes, injuries or damage have occurred.

What kits are affected?

We have determined that the possible kits affected were shipped from Dynatrac between April 8, 2015, through August 28, 2015. During this period kits were shipped from Dynatrac to end users, dealers and distributors. If you received a kit between April 8, 2015, and September 30, 2015, and it has the markings shown on the last two pages of this document, your kit may be affected.

What is Dynatrac doing about the problem?

We will work with you to verify if your parts are part of the recall scope. If we determine your kit is part of the recall, Dynatrac will provide replacement parts directly to you free of charge. All shipping of the new parts, and the return of suspect parts will be paid for by Dynatrac. Dynatrac will reimburse you for a labor allowance of 2.8 hours at a rate of $60.00 per hour. The maximum total labor reimbursement is $168.00 per vehicle.

The process to replace the bracket is simple and consists of operations that are performed as part of normal brake servicing. You may perform the replacement yourself, or take it to a shop that is capable of normal brake service and repairs. Whichever option you choose, Dynatrac will pay you the labor allowance.
